The brief
Mechanics need the right product for the car in front of them, quickly, with dirty hands. Typing in vehicle details wasn't good enough, so the camera became the search box.
Where it stands
Comma Product Finder is still on the App Store, and its listing describes it as used by workshops across the UK.
The hard parts
- Reading number plates on the device with OpenALPR, OpenCV and Tesseract.
- Bringing C++ computer vision libraries into a Swift app through Objective-C++.
